The Brick & The Hub

The Brick & The Hub, Landmarks
The Brick & The Hub
The Landmark that I have chosen is the "Brick."

The Brick is located in the heart of historic downtown Ocala, Florida. Long before it became the Center for the Arts, it was known as The Hub. The Hub was a clothing store from around 1953.

The Brick is an Icon for the art in Ocala. A city has an identity, and art reflects it. The Brick is a perfect symbol that models this relationship between art and its community.

There is a symbiosis between a city and its art, and this is one of the reasons I decided to choose the Brick. The Brick is a landmark of the art, opportunities, integration, and inclusiveness; that reflects and models this symbiosis.

The Brick building represents and reflects art better than any other landmark or building in Ocala, Fl.

The two pieces submitted for the show represent the Brick in the Colors used (blue, orange, green, yellow, red); and the inclusion of a physical brick, and circular and spherical figures.

Blue: represents the MCA fatherhood role for the local artist and the art. The color Blue indicates Loyalty and trust characterize the relationship between MCA and the artists.

Orange: represents the joy and creativity encouraged by this landmark, a physical orange brick is included in the picture to represent the spirit of sharing wellness and emotional energy.

Green: represents the growth that the community and artists experience in the dynamic created between the artist and the audience; the harmony that comes from this relationship.

Yellow: The light and brightness reflected and projected by this beacon of art in the city.

Red: means MCA, The Brick, and artists' passion and love for the community and the art.

It has been included in the pieces: spheres, circulars objects, and a brick:

A physical brick has been included in the art pieces as a symbol of support, and a base on which the spheres are standing.

The Spheres represent the circular a perfect dynamic and symbiosis between the building, the MCA institution, the artists, the city of Ocala, and its habitants.
