This work was made as a tribute to New York City and the iconic Statue of Liberty. This colossal figure demanded an enormous canvas. The variety of mark making and textural elements throughout the painting are representative of the beautiful cacophony that makes up New York. Even in the strangest times, the statue still stands and represents hope for dreamers and reassurance for us all. The idea of freedom is what unites us. I did my best to be as free spirited in the making of this work. The seemingly random pineapple is a symbol of hospitality and meant to be welcoming. Inviting people to come create an enjoyable life.
